When Dow Jones decided to build a Caché-based database cache for the next generation of MaketWatch’s Big Charts online graphing solution, they chose J2 to architect and implement it. Over the course of just three weeks, we designed, built, and documented a complete functioning prototype that was handed back to the Dow Jones development team for integration with both the front-end application and the web services from which the source data originates. The cache delivered rapid responses to queries for historical equities pricing data at ten different frequencies, from yearly to minute-by-minute, calling out to multiple web services where necessary to populate or refresh itself.
The Dow Jones project is a great example of J2’s ability to rapidly implement an “80%” solution that can then be transitioned, quickly and painlessly, back to the client for completion by internal resources with little or no prior experience with Caché.
