Summer is for dreams and schemes.

Creative energy is - in my opinion - our most valuable and most unique advantage as business and healthcare leaders. It’s the ability to consider a million details, and chart a clear, innovative path forward- one that will stand the test of time, empower our enterprises, and ensure the highest levels of functionality.

But creative energy is also one of the most elusive brain spaces. Creativity- as we colloquially call it - is a complex neurological function that uses more parts of the brain than your average mentally laborious task. It consumes more calories, leverages the full spectrum of neurotransmitters, and, most importantly, cannot be rushed. Creativity leverages the parts of the brain that only turn on when we are relaxed. When there is peace - not just in our brains, but in our bodies - our heart rate must be normal - not elevated from stress. Our gut microbiome plays a supporting role, and we need consistent, quality sleep. Biologically speaking, we literally need slowness, space, and a clear calendar to unlock our fullest creative potential.

And summer is the season that supports all those needs! The sunshine, the holidays, the time with family and friends, the road trips, the ocean, the forests, the long days and cool drinks - it genuinely fuels creativity in the mind.

I hope you’re finding yourself in those relaxed, creative spaces this summer. And if you’re not, let us help you with the brainstorm. We’ve been helping healthcare leaders chart courses for their organizations for 25 years, and we’re genuinely here for you. Healthcare has complex problems to solve, and you don’t have to build a complex solution on your own. Let us help you step into a more innovative, outside-the-box frame of mind. Our experts would revel in the chance to get creative with you.

Your true partner in all things technology, J2.

Beyond the Badge: Data Quality in the Age of Continuous Validation

With NCQA Data Aggregator Validation (DAV) now established as critical infrastructure, J2’s Director of Professional Services, Nathan Elliott, explores the next phase for HIEs. In his latest piece, “Beyond the Badge: Data Quality in the Age of Continuous Validation,” Nathan challenges HIE leaders to stop viewing validation as a one-time, “finish line” or a badge to be earned, and instead urges them to adopt a year-round, continuous approach to data quality.

Big thanks to Roberta Mullin, Partner and Chief Editor at Answers Media Network, for publishing these insights! For HIEs looking to lead the pack, Nathan notes that the HIEs destined to win in the coming years are the ones actively shifting their strategy.

“What we can do now is light years ahead of what we did years ago.”

Spotlighting Rural Healthcare Stories

J2 knows that improving rural healthcare requires more than expanding access; it requires understanding the real-world challenges patients and clinicians face every day. Investment in the right health tech will empower rural providers to deliver equitable, life-saving care for everyone, regardless of zip code.

Continuing our spotlight series, J2 employees discuss how they’ve been personally impacted. Zip codes should never determine the quality of care you receive, and with the right solutions, we can bridge these health equity gaps.

Check out their stories.
