Your data: all treats, no tricks
One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to elevate thought leaders. Candidly, I think it’s fun to shine the spotlight on brilliant people, AND you get to learn from them along the way.
I’ve been spending more and more time speaking with my colleague, Nathan Elliott, Director of Professional Services and a bona fide data quality expert. In one of his recent posts, he wrote, “Data quality is a verb.”
This statement still echoes in my brain.
In so many of his thought leadership pieces (new ones coming soon!) Nathan is giving advice on data governance, mindset, and getting clear on the ultimate goal: what do you want your data to do for you?
Because he’s 100% spot on - data quality is a never-ending quest, a constant evolution, and a point of boundless pride when you’re getting it right.
As more and more organizations develop AI strategies, clean data is the essential foundation for anything AI in the future. J2 is helping organizations ensure quality data; the reward is all treats, not ghosts, ghouls, or hallucinations.
We’re here to help, with more than just hocus pocus.

Zip Codes Should Not Make the Difference
Between Life and Death

As states and communities determine how to allocate Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) funding, delivering modern medical care to vulnerable rural patients has never been more important.
Drawing on his unique background as a healthcare IT leader and volunteer firefighter in Sugarloaf, Colorado, Brian Fives, J2’s Vice President of Strategy & Growth, paints a vivid, personal picture of what frontline care challenges look like at 9,000 feet. He draws on these experiences to outline key strategies to maximize RHTP funding and improve healthcare delivery in rural communities.
A New Approach Could Close Racial Gaps in Maternal Care

Over the last several years, we have been honored to work with a wide range of stakeholders, including North Carolina Health Information Exchange Authority, SAS, maternal health specialists from the University of North Carolina System, Momma's Village-Fayetteville, and Maame, on the ACURE4Moms (Accountability for Care through Undoing Racism and Equity) initiative to address persistent maternal health outcome disparities in North Carolina.
This award-winning program brings together community-based doulas to help rebuild trust among Black pregnant mothers and in technology, including data alerts J2 Interactive developed to allow providers across the state to make more informed care decisions in near real time.
Recently, Becky Durant, J2’s Vice President of Professional Services, sat down with Melba Pearson from Legal AF, Dr. Jennifer Tang from UNC Health Care System, and Angela Tatum, the founder of Momma's Village-Fayetteville, to explore what lessons have been learned from this program and how these lessons can be expanded to other states that are concerned about persistent maternal health outcome inequities.
Legacy Modernisation Without Disruption:
Preserve the Engine, Remodel the Exterior

We are happy to share J2’s Director of Professional Services, Paul Cranston’s, thoughts on how companies should weigh preserving institutional knowledge when legacy systems may seem like obstacles to modernization.
J2 has had the pleasure of working with Chadwicks on their award-winning modernization project. As Paul highlights, many of the lessons from this use case apply to other companies deciding whether to modernize or rip and replace, including focusing on the engine (the platform) and what remains robust and resilient, rather than aesthetics. This is a conversation that we look forward to continuing to have with both healthcare organizations and companies in a variety of other sectors.
Thank you to Irish Tech News for letting Paul share his thoughts.

Frequent Flying this Fall
October kicked off with J2 traveling to the WISHIN Summit in the Wisconsin Dells—an incredible place to host a conference! This one-day conference was brimming with powerful stories around data connectivity and public health wins. WISHIN participants gathered for pragmatic and transparent conversations around data wins and perceived data gaps—echoes of challenges we hear at every level of healthcare data management.
Fun fact: The first conference J2’s Marketing Director Rachel Warnock ever helped organize was in the Wisconsin Dells! She was 15 and helped her father, who organized annual conferences for a regional sports club. He took her with him to contract negotiation meetings, getting her started early. Going to a conference in the Dells over 20 years later was a real moment of nostalgia!

After getting their fill of genuine Wisconsin cheese curds, a regional delicacy, J2 was in Boston for the Rhapsody conference to learn about their new Boost Program. A stone’s throw away from J2 HQ, the Rhapsody conference was a backyard gathering we were excited to attend!

Following the best clam chowder your taste buds will ever experience, J2 headed to Longhorn country for the eHealth Exchange conference in Austin, TX. Like the WISHIN Summit, the eHealth Exchange conference was a jam-packed one-day event full of HIE-driven advancements in healthcare data management and connectivity, with speakers from regional HIEs, providers, and payers. The room was full of familiar faces, and it was heart-filling to see everyone in person one more time before the holidays.
The J2 road warriors are officially home for the year, but already making plans for the spring conferences. Can’t wait to see everyone again in 2027!!
