Great Plains Health is a progressive health system, located in North Platte, serving a 17-county region of Nebraska, northern Kansas and southern South Dakota. With 90 physicians representing nearly 30 medical specialties, the Great Plains Health system offers advanced health care, including heart and vascular, cancer and orthopedic surgery services. The health system has grown to include a 116-bed, not-for-profit, independent, community-owned regional medical center; a Level III trauma center; twelve medical clinics in North Platte; fifteen outreach clinics in communities throughout west central Nebraska; Great Plains Home Medical Equipment; Regency Retirement Community; and Great Plains Health Care Foundation.
In 2015, GPH brought in J2 to provide staff augmentation for its internal team, which had already begun the process of migrating interfaces from eGate to HealthShare Foundation but was also working on a planned move to a new patient tower. J2 took responsibility for a number of new integration projects, including:
- Five interfaces (ADT, Lab Orders, Lab Results, Radiology Orders, and Radiology Results) related to the migration of GPH’s outpatient clinics from Allscripts Professional EHR to Epic Ambulatory EMR
- Approximately 20 interfaces related to two of GPH’s major applications, T-System and ChartMaxx
- Updates to existing interfaces from Allscripts and Epic to Sunquest
Upon completion of these projects, J2 provided detailed documentation and conducted a structured handover to GPH’s internal team to ensure a smooth transfer of responsibility for ongoing support and maintenance.
